Chemotherapy Drug

Chemotherapy drugs are meant to destroy the abnormal cells in your body, cells that grow into cancer cells. Chemotherapy drugs also kill your healthy cells, those that keep you alive.

Surgery is a treatment that should or may be used for cancer, to remove the cancerous cells or tumor. But if surgery is done, they will follow it up with chemotherapy as they claim it will prevent more growth of the cancerous cells, but it also prevents the growth of your healthy cells.

The drug (poison) that is chosen for chemotherapy is dependent on your type of cancer you have been diagnosed with. They are given in a couple of different ways, either by pill or liquid. Liquid will be given either by injection or intravenously. Depending on which drug used will depend the method it is given.

You can have treatments done at home or go to the doctor’s office or you may be required to be at the hospital. Your cancer being treated will also determine how often you will get your treatments. You may be treated on a daily basis, weekly or even once a month. Another factor that will be considered will be your reaction to the drugs pumped into your body.

Chemotherapy drugs have some very dangerous and extreme side effects. Some of these include nausea and vomiting, total hair loss, dry skin, excessive bruising and diarrhea, and this is all because your body is being destroyed in every area possible.

Sores may develop around your mouth and you will become weak and have a greater risk of infection, during and after the treatments. You may also suffer in your sex drive and if you are a woman; it may affect your fertility and cause hot flashes. There is a huge risk that it will affect your bone marrow, where the red and while blood cells will be damaged. This will therefore cause you a higher risk of anemia causing greater fatigue, weakness, pale skin and more difficulty with your breathing.

But the doctors will then give you even more drugs to help with the side effects of the chemotherapy drugs. These drugs may help you with the nausea and vomiting. They claim there are more drugs that will help in making new blood cells helping the bone marrow improve. I have my doubts about the validity of this.

There may be a chance of you needing a blood transfusion. They want you to hold on to the hope that these drugs may be the only things that will help you in your fight against cancer. This is NOT your hope, this is your KILLER.
